World cancer day and Teddy Rocks!

What a whirlwind the last 3 years have been! With Covid-19 taking the line light for so long we should not forget about other threats to our health and well being. With World cancer day (4th Feb) just passed, and with world cancer prevention week just around the corner (21st–27th February) it's important to highlight awareness and re-educate ourselves around these health areas within our Covid dominated world.

Currently, 1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. In the UK, the 4 most common types of cancer are:

Yet due to the help of World Cancer Day, led by the UICC, (the Union for International Cancer Control) and Cancer Research UK (one of its 172 organisation members), 2 in 4 people in the UK survive their cancer for 10 years or more. World Cancer Day is one singular initiative under which the entire world can unite in the fight against the global cancer epidemic.

In this fight and re-awareness THAY medical is playing it’s part and we are proud and honored to once again be sponsoring and promoting Teddy Rocks, a rock festival aimed at raising money to fight childhood cancer.

Teddy Rocks has an amazing backstory, having started in 2011 as a small gig at a pub in Blandford Forum, which ended up funding the very first Teddy Rocks event at the Corn Exchange in Blandford in 2012. Each year the gig grew and just 6 years on, the festival has grown enormously to a full weekend camping experience, with 5 stages, over 100 acts performing across 3 days and all proceeds going to Teddy20. The Newton family who organise the festival founded the Teddy20 charity after losing their young son Ted to a rare type of bone cancer. Teddy20 has since developed as an outstanding initiative that offers financial as well as emotional support to children and their families who are undergoing treatment for cancer.

We’ll be there and we hope you will too!
