Junior Human Factors Engineer
Due to the growth of our organisation, based in Dorset, we are currently recruiting for a Junior Human Factors / Usability Engineer to assist our team in medical device developments.
You will have some understanding of human factors, usability, ergonomics, industrial design, software or psychology, ideally within the medical devices industry, but experience in other industries is acceptable. Degree qualification is mandatory, but not just in the above areas – other subjects may also be suitable i.e. engineering, marketing, design etc.
The key skills required are to be a competent and confident individual, who adapts easily to situations and to people. Organisation and professionalism are key to this role. In addition, we seek individuals with a “can do” attitude, who are willing to travel, able to work effectively and who can work well in a small team.
Travel internationally will be required intermittently, and the ability to drive and travel within the UK regularly. A benefit of being a junior human factors engineer is that you will travel with the job and you will not be stuck at a desk all year around. Therefore, an international passport is required and UK or European citizenship essential. In addition, capability to speak/write in multiple languages will be useful and a benefit to the organisation.
Knowledge of human factors / usability regulations will be an advantage (IEC62366-1, UCM259760, ISO92421 etc.), as well as design, development and testing methods for medical devices and other products. Experience of UX and digital device development, including software will also be an advantage. Ideally you will have more than 1 years’ work experience in industry post-graduation.
This role will pay industry standard levels dependent upon experience and suitability. In addition, benefits will include pension, holidays, expenses. 3D CAD Designer/Engineer
Due to the growth of our organisation, based in Dorset, we are currently recruiting for an experienced 3D CAD Designer to assist our team.
Under the supervision of the Human Factors team the 3D CAD Designer performs a variety of design/drafting activities including preparing and updating medical device models and drawings for projects, preparing assembly and manufacturing drawings, establishing guidelines and procedures for CAD data management, and managing workload distribution within the CAD projects.
Other duties will include:
- Revise and update existing drawings, reflect design changes.
- Review specifications and other documentation and include other project team members in decisions.
- Work with the Project Lead on guidelines for all projects which meet and exceed the internal requirements.
- Maintain notes, design calculations and relevant information for the project, save and archive according to QMS and design history file.
- Establish and maintain filing guidelines, maintain up-to-date designs and drawings.
Experience needed:
- Degree in a relevant subject – CAD, design or related field plus a minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
- Experience of Solid Works Software or equivalent preferable.
- Plastic moulding and detailing.
- Manufacturing and Production.
Physical demands:
- The 3D CAD Technician must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail. While performing duties of this job the employee will be required to sit for long periods of time.
- Vision abilities including close and distance vision, colour vison and ability to adjust focus.
The right candidate will have more than 2 years’ work experience in industry post-graduation, including 2 years in a 3D CAD role. Knowledge of human factors / usability will be an advantage (IEC62366-1, as well as testing methods for medical devices and other products.

You will have a strong understanding of the Quality Regulatory Engineer role, ideally within the medical devices industry, but experience in other industries is acceptable, if not an advantage. Degree qualification is mandatory in a relevant field, or a technical degree is acceptable.
The right candidate must be a competent and confident individual within the quality and regulatory arena, who adapts easily to situations and to people. A key attribute is that you can demonstrate your experience along with organisation, leadership and professionalism to be successful in this role. In addition, we seek an individual with a “can do” attitude, who is not afraid to travel, not afraid to work effectively and who can work well in a small team.
